What causes acid reflux?

When you swallow, your lower esophageal sphincter relaxes to allow food and liquid into your stomach! Then it closes! If the lower esophageal sphincter relaxes abnormally, stomach acid can flow back up into your esophagus, causing heartburn! No, it has nothing to do with your tonsils!
