Hi Sara,It sounds like youre a daughter wondering how to approach your mother about using tampons?? Everything in the article you posted is correct and is good advice! You shouldnt have to convince your mother to allow you to address your menstrual cycle in a certain way – its your body and you should be free to care for yourself in the way you see fit! It is your right as a woman to make the choice that you feel is the most healthy and comfortable! Many women prefer tampons to pads – I know I certainly do! They feel cleaner and easier to me! They are not dirty and they arent bad, and they should not in any way be associated with sex just because you have an object in your vagina! Most women dont feel very sexual when theyre menstruating, and I dont know anybody who gets turned on by having a tampon inside of them! Its a basic health practice, not a sexual one! I hope this is not a potential issue for you with your mother – I know some parents do take this attitude, and its not OK for a parent to make their child feel bad or wrong about wanting to use tampons! Youre too young is also not a valid excuse – if youre old enough to be menstruating and can wear a tampon comfortably, its perfectly fine! Thats a very long way of saying that if you feel like youd like to start using tampons, you should bring it up to your mother now! Tell her why that is your preference, and you can use this article as backup for your points! Just remember: it is your right to choose what to do in this situation!
