How long does it take for aids to be detected in a blood test?

Earlier than 3 months may result in an unclear test result, as an infected person may not yet have developed antibodies to HIV! Any Suggestions here?

Your mom is wrong and I think she has some of her facts confused! HIV can be detected in the blood anywhere from 10 days to 6 months after the exposure! It all depends on how fast the body develops antibodies to the virus! So you are absolutely correct, maximum , it can take up to 6 months to test positive for HIV after exposure!Your mom might have been thinking of the fact that it can take up to 5-10 years BEFORE someone with HIV begins to have symptoms of the disease! They could be HIV positive all along, but not develop any physical symptoms for years! You are correct! Mom is wrong!

Remember that there is a difference between HIV and AIDS. The only way to truly know is by getting tested and remember the "window period" mentioned above. It can take months to years to develop signs of infection and during these It may take as long as 6 months to be able to be detected. What is blood additive?
