How many hours of sleep healthy for a sixteen year old girl?

Most teens need about 8 1/2 to more than 9 hours of sleep each night! Sticking to a sleep schedule is also very important! Thanks! Any Suggestions here?

    Your doc is right – this IS normal for a newborn! Shes only 1 month old! Using the breast for pacification is completely normal and healthy! A pacifier is an artificial substitute for your breast, not a necessary baby item! Breastfeeding is more than just food – its also comfort and bonding and security for your baby! She was completely attached to you (on the inside) 24/7 for 9 months, so of course she still wants to be close to you all the time now that shes out! Both of my kids did the same at that age, and I never even offered them a pacifier!The good news is this is not permanent! As she gets older, she will gradually become more independent and learn to accept other forms of comfort! She will gradually begin to be happy without you for short periods – just a few minutes at a time at first – and begin to go longer between nursing sessions! Eventually shell learn to sleep on her own too!For now, you just need to find ways to cope and get through this phase of parenting! Co-sleeping is a good idea, provided you do so safely and keep pillows/blankets away from your baby! A baby sling or wrap is another great help during this time – learn to breastfeed with your baby in a sling or wrap so you will have hands free and can move around and get a few things done while she nurses! I dont know how I survived without one with my first baby, but my ring sling was a life-saver with my second because it let me nurse him and still be able to take care of my daughter! Talk and play with her while shes nursing – that is wonderful bonding time! Let her nurse as much as she wants, and dont fight it by trying so many pacifiers and bottles, theres no need for that! Just be patient and give her more time to adjust to the world! Accept that you arent going to get much done right now, and just focus on breastfeeding and relaxing with your baby! In a few more months, things will be very different and you will be able to do more!
