SSRIs increase the amount of serotonin in the brain, but a side effect of them is the brain uses serotonin less efficiently! When MDMA floods the brain with serotonin, mood will still be improved, but not nearly as much as if SSRIs were not present! There are no known side effects from this particular combination not already present in MDMA alone! If youre taking an SSRI for depression, you should not take MDMA because youll still end up with lower serotonin levels afterward, and youre losing much of the pleasant effect!
